This Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) file explains the five sets of deliverables that were identified under each objective in the grant submission. The RUBRIC Project deliverables are outlined in full in the Grant Submission. The five objectives are: To develop regional research repository infrastructure based on software and best practice outcomes of the FRODO projects ("A" Deliverables) To develop a set of support services to sustain the collaborative development of distributed research information networks across regional universities ("B" Deliverables) To use demonstrators implementing pilot repository infrastructure in research universities to explore the leadership roles that regional universities can take in larger collaborative arrangements ("C" Deliverables) To deploy the DEST / JISC e-Framework for Education and Research as a planning, dissemination and implementation support tool for infrastructure development ("D" Deliverables) To develop new processes and tools that exploit the natural progression between e-Research and e-Learning for regional universities where research and learning are closely aligned ("E" Deliverables)
What does this really mean? The RUBRIC project is trying to achieve the following outcomes for its partners: Adopt "best practice" emerging from the FRODO projects - not reinvent the wheel or start developing something new, but be able to contribute regional experiences to debate in the Australian context Provide a centralized base for assistance to RUBRIC partners, which are generally smaller regional organizations with limited resources Set up a first generation solution for all partners (or second generation for partners with some existing experience, such as USQ) To build a central resource for investigating, researching and making recommendations on IR developments - where issues can't be resolved, they will at least be documented and thrown open for debate Building a knowledge base for software evaluation, data management issues, community engagement and monitoring of national and international developments in this field
RUBRIC intends to have highly focussed outcomes. The overall goal is to establish a repository solution in each partner site by the end of the project. |
