Newsletter No 2 January 2006
1 VITAL Installed!
Dr Peter Sefton and Caroline Ayres of the RUBRIC Central technical team received training in the use of the Vital repository product, which is one of the outputs of the ARROW project, at UNSW on 12 and 13 December 2005.
We are pleased to announce that we now have our own version installed on a new server, and will resume our evaluation of Vital next week.
Vital installation is somewhat different to the other products we are evaluating because it is installed by VTLS staff remotely, whereas DSpace and Fez are both very much DIY systems.
The Vital evaluation will conclude our first round of trials, and we will be producing a draft document outlining our early experiences during February, while simultaneously revisiting all three products (DSpace, FEZ and Vital) prior to starting partner-specific demonstrator mini-projects in March 2006 (subject to board approval of a draft plan).
